Water And Sanitation Hygiene

Naru kemi simply means good, clean and safe water in local Witu language.

There are a number of water sources available from the mountains and underground water-table however they lack proper infrastructure to safely collect and store this natural clean water.

Villagers use simple yet unsafe techniques to ensure they have water to cook, drink and wash. Many have fallen ill and would like change to their current water and sanitation system. During our initial visit to villages, many have raised concerns and the need for water in their community.

Our goal is to be the driving force behind this change through setting up wash infrastructures that collects and stores water . This prevents contamination and reduces the high number of water born diseases and illnesses.

In May 2022, Digicel Foundation Papua New Guinea granted our submission for a water project in Vituhu village. It is through their support in funding we were to build wash facilities for water storage and collection.

We have approximately 13 villages that still require water infrastructure and through funding we can change their lives.
